In-envelope work comes back with a price in minutes and a ship date backed by money. Everything else comes back with a person, a real timeline, and the same documentation. Nothing is refused at the door.

Praetore is the manufacturer of record in both lanes. Your PO is with us, we own the engineering and the quality system, and the network of American shops is how we cut — not who you buy from. One accountable party, either way the check goes.

Scripting is off

The form still works: it posts straight to our intake and you land on the receipt page. What you lose is the live pre-check and the upload progress bar, not the submission. If anything about it misbehaves, email the files to hello@praetore.com with your quantity and material — the same desk reads both.

01The partSTEP is what the packet gets built from. A PDF print on its own is enough to start — it just slows the check down.

Export-controlled work does not come through this door

If the part is subject to ITAR, the EAR, or another controlled-data regime, do not attach it here. Write to hello@praetore.com and we will open the controlled-data intake: stored separately, every access logged, never batched with non-controlled work, routed only to registered shops.

If you are not sure whether your part is controlled, ask first. An unmarked controlled file is not a problem that can be fixed after the upload.

4.0 MB of attachments, total. That is what the upload endpoint accepts rather than a preference, and assembly STEP files cross it routinely — if yours is bigger, email it to hello@praetore.com with your quantity and material and we'll pull it in by hand. Better than watching an upload die at 90%.

02The envelopeWhat the check needs from you. It reads the geometry itself.

Material

The library is fixed and stocked, on a shared thickness ladder — that shared ladder is what makes batching across customers possible. Anything outside it routes to a human.

Tolerance class

A menu, not a conversation. Standard is ±0.005″ linear, ±0.003″ holes, 0.005″/in flatness. Precision is ±0.002″, ±0.001″, 0.002″/in. Tight is flagged and routes to a CMM-verified shop.

Finish

A fixed menu; as-machined at 125 µin is the default and 63 µin is the premium step. Flagged finishes are partner-routed and add stated days to the date rather than quietly moving it.

Quantity

1–500 is the instant lane. 501–5,000 is an engineered quote inside 2 business days. Above 5,000 a person contacts you to scope a program.

Selections are the easy half. Geometry decides the rest, and the full check runs on your model after upload — size, wall thickness, corner radii, hole depth ratios, thread callouts, setup count. A flag is a pause for an engineer, not a refusal.

What happens after you hit send

Two lanes, two different promises, one company. You are not asked to pick between them — the check does that, and it tells you which one you landed in and why.

Twelve artifacts is the packet's mandatory contents, not a count of anything shipped. Programs, setup sheets, the fixture plan, probe routines, the inspection plan and the rest travel together, which is the reason a date can be quoted before a machine is chosen.

Every Sourcing job is logged by feature class. That log — not a roadmap meeting — is what decides which features the Catalog absorbs next. Tell us what you wish were instant, and the envelope moves toward it on evidence.

What happens to your files

Models and prints are encrypted at rest.
A shop only ever sees a copy watermarked to that shop, delivered through the shop portal — never as an email attachment.
Shop access is revoked when the job completes, after the retention window.
Controlled work admitted through the controlled-data intake — which is a different door from this form — is stored separately, access-logged, never batched with non-controlled work, and routed only to registered shops.
